The Principal of Government Secondary School, Malete, Alhaji Yahaya Ibrahim has drawn the attention of the Kwara State Government (KWSG) to the deplorable condition of the first generation school in the state.
Alhaji Yahaya who has been head of the school for the past two years, said the school currently lacks good library, sport facilities, laboratory equipment, good classrooms.
GSS Malete which was established in 1971 as a boarding school is situated in Moro local government area of the state for both male and female is currently has suffered dearth of facilities and poor maintenance.
According to the principal, “Some boarding students from Ilorin and other part of the country now reside in staff quarters due to critical condition of their hostels”.
He further explained that the Parents and Teachers’ Association (PTA) in collaboration with the Old Students’ Association are doing their best to support the school financially and had promised to buy a school bus very soon.
A youth corps member serving at the school, Falmata Mustapha urged government to help in renovating the school and to recruit some qualified teachers in certain subjects such as Literature, Further Mathematics and Geography.
Also Blessing Adebayo, another youth corps member complained about rudeness of some students and lack of teaching equipment which incapacitates teaching.
