Mass Communication Student Association (MACOSA), Kwara State University, held its annual orientation programme at the College of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Auditorium recently.
The event was organized by MACOSA to acquaint freshers in the department to the institution and to enlighten them on their expectations on campus.
The Head of the Department, Dr. Murtada Ahmad, extolled the achievements of the department since its creation in 2009, stating that “Mass Communication is one of the foremost departments in Kwara State University and the most notable department all over the world”.
He advised the newly admitted students to be of good behaviour and also to make best use of the resources available to them.
The guest speaker at the event, Mr. Victor Babatunde in his lecture titled JOURNALISM IN TRANSITION emphasized that the focal point in the profession of journalism is the gathering, processing and dissemination of news.
The Director, University Relations unit, Dr. Isiaka Aliagan congratulated the fresher on their opportunity of becoming students of KWASU and for being Mass Communication students.
He stressed the fact that journalists are successful people and they can be as popular as the president, governor and other famous personalities in the world, adding that the newly admitted students came at a time the university will be starting its broadcasting station.
