The Kwara state Governorship Candidate of Labour Party for the 2019 General Election, Comrade Issa Obalowu Aremu has asserted that the only way to guarantee good future for Nigerian students was by organising holiday jobs for them.
Aremu made the assertion at the 1st Political Engagement with Governorship Candidates organised by the Politics and governance Department of Kwara State University Malete ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
According ti him, it makes no sense for students to be trained where there is no guaranty of good future after acquiring all necessary certificates.
Aremu, who is a former Vice President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) said there was nothing in academic certificates that could not secure jobs.
“God willing, under the Labour Party, we will make holiday jobs compulsory students. Even when they are in school we will steal the dignity of labour, that concept is the only way to ensure our students particularly of tertiary institutions work while studying”, he said.
The labour leader noted, however, that the holiday jobs could only come into existence if industries put in a proper place.
The governorship hopeful explained that his focus would be to re-invent and re-top the state to the growth and development it desired.
This achievement, he said could be achieved along others through education.
